Fehrenbach Sets School Record in Win over UW-Superior

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball earned a 62-53 victory over UW-Superior Saturday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 10-10 overall and 5-6 in the WIAC while the Yellowjackets drop to 8-11 overall and 4-7 in the conference.

Chris Fehrenbach became UW-L's career three-point field goals made leader Saturday as he finished with three against UW-Superior. He now has 209 three-pointers, breaking the record of 206 held by Casey Taggatz.

UW-L raced out to an 8-0 lead before UW-Superior went on a 9-0 run to take a one-point lead. The Yellowjackets led by four at 14-10 with 11:57 remaining in the first half when the Eagles went on a 9-0 run themselves for a 19-14 lead. The game was tied 19-19 with 6:09 left when UW-L went on a 11-2 run. The Eagles led 30-26 at halftime.

UW-Superior cut the lead to four three times in the second half, including at 40-36 with 10:29 left. UW-L went on a 8-0 run to lead 48-36 with 7:48 remaining and UW-Superior could get no closer than seven points the rest of the game.

Fehrenbach led UW-L with 21 points, finishing eight-of-12 from the field, including three-of-six from three-point range. He was two-of-two at the free throw line and added eight rebounds. Brandon Brown finished with 12 points, four steals and two assists for the Eagles while Andrew Haass recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

UW-L shot 47.8% from the field, including 55.0% (11-of-20) in the second half. The Eagles were three-of-11 (27.3%) from three-point range in the game and 15-of-18 (83.3%) at the line.

Shane Manor led UW-Superior with 13 points while Dwight Hill added 12 and Jake Smith 11. The Yellowjackets shot 36.8% from the field, including 35.7% (five-of-14) from three-point range. The team was six-of-seven (85.7%) at the free throw line.

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, February 6 hosting UW-Platteville at 7 p.m.
