May multiple insurance deductions reminder for nine-month appointments
Multiple deductions will be taken from the last check of the academic year of employees who have a nine-month academic year appointment and are returning for employment at UW-L for the 2008-09 academic year to cover various insurance payments for the summer months

  • The last check of the academic year will be paid/deposited Friday, May 30, since June 1 is a Sunday.
  • In addition to the regular deduction, three additional insurance deductions will be taken from the check/deposit
  • The deductions are taken pre-tax, so employees are not paying tax on deducted premiums

For example, the HMO family health insurance premium for 50 percent or greater appointments is $68 per month. The May deduction, plus three more deductions (4 x $68), will result in a total of $272 deducted for health insurance premiums from the May 30 check/deposit, to provide health insurance coverage until the first check/deposit in the 2008-09 academic year.
