As our motto "Mens Corpusque" (mind and body) suggests, there's more to college life than hitting the books. Participating in social and recreational activities and just plain having fun are also important to one's personal growth. You'll be hard pressed to find a school with so much to do, so close to campus.

Located on the Great River Road that winds north and south through 10 states, La Crosse is the hub of the geographic area known as the 7 Rivers Region. Densely wooded valleys, the famous Mississippi River and its tributaries, lush marshes and native prairies provide prime opportunities for outdoor recreation. Like to shop? La Crosse is known for its historic downtown district, which boasts dozens of specialty boutiques; we also we have one of the largest malls in the region. In addition, there are dozens of restaurants, a number of movie theaters and several venues that host concerts and other special events.
Two major medical centers, three institutions of higher education, a growing technology sector and a thriving manufacturing base contribute to the area's economic vitality and offer numerous opportunities for internships and other hands-on learning experiences. Many of them employ UW-L students after graduation.
